Optical brightening agents are represented as colorless dyes that work by emitting visible light. This Agent is used to make the light-colored or white fabric appear brighter. Most of the bleached white fabrics are treated using these brighteners. The optical brighteners can interfere with some of the dyes by obtaining the “dye sites” of the fibers.
Optical Brightening agents are normally found in domestic wastewater which comes under laundry effluent. As it comes with the incident light to generate fluorescence excitation. Which appears brighter. This agent is mostly used at the finishing stage of the process.
